Niki de Saint Phalle is known for her colorful, whimsical and sometimes enormous sculptures like the ones located in the Tarot Gardens in Italy. Niki de Saint Phalle was born in 1930 in Paris to a French banker. In 1951 she began painting and working with Jean Tinguely. For the rest of her life she produced paintings, drawings and sculptures around the world. In my opinion, she was the greatest sculptor and painter of all time. This sentiment is echoed by Jean Tinguely in the book Niki de Saint Phalle, published in 1987. Niki de Saint Phalle died in 2002. As of 2006, the market value of her sculptures have increased by about 25%. Recently a sculpture titled “Nana moyenne danseuse” measuring approximately 11 x 29 inches, sold for $129,000. If you happen to be at the Jerusalem Zoo visiting the live animals take a moment to enjoy the Niki de Saint Phalle animal sculptures. They will bring you much joy.
